thanks
for translating to nikki
wie
kann is it possible to miss an event like this one? it
certainly is.... but details are of no importance here in
this context. what is relevant is that this time you guys
are responsible for a remarkable review.
there
are pictures by jana, nico, wetzel
and tom. a big thank you to you all.
these
pics reflect exactly what had been expected. a sort of
tropical spring monsoon indoors. that the party was held
on a wednesday stopped hardly anybody, on the contrary,
this only boosted the special feel.
so, the
images show an elan club filled to the brim. according to
eye and ear witnesses, already in the lobby you were
greeted by a euphoric crowd. in order to get to the dance
floor, you had to move through a literal heat wall.
we
didn't expect anythiny else. richie hawtin & troy
pierce were announced and did show up, even though
richie could have attended other appointments, too, like
the premiere of the movie "feiern" at berlin's "babylon"
on the same evening. (infos at www.feiern-film.de).
instead,
he set the night on fire right here and made everbody
sweat. the heat that came from the packed dance floor was
probably just like walking through the jungle, if I look
at these pictures...
for
troy's and richie's gig, the entire audio equipment of
the dj stand had to be exchanged, except for the
turntables, for an even more powerful system. besides 3
laptops they also brought a huge allen and heath
mixer.
long
story short, the dance floor was beyond control. but in
the end, it doesn't matter how many mixer desks, laptops,
turntables are there. what's important is only that the
selector can handly his equipment and that the music
melts into something new and great.
and
when it comes to that, richie hawtin has always been a
master of his craft. which is why he well deserves his
current title as the "world's best dj". the fact that he
was previously asked to arrange the musical scale of the
opening of the olympic winter games should tell you
enough.
from
his m_nus family he also brought troy pierce, who - I was
told - did not rank behind the sound of hawtin's
set.
as
announced, the two switched places behind the desks at
9.30 p.m., which is documented impressively in the
pictures above. whenever either one of them wasn't busy
he went to the dance floor, see below ;)
.
even
though you can't really call 7.30 a.m. "night" anymore, I
think it is justified to label dj meat's set, which
started at that time, as the closing of an all night long
party.
all in
all an impressive example of what can be happening. i'm
saying this without any judgement, as just about the same
(in terms of party and vibes) can be possible with less.
this we have seen and hopefully will continue to see at
the elan.
we are
confident that a final closing is still far away and
actually hope that with may 1st, the club's operators
will release the (self-imposed) pressure to have an event
every other week, instead of shutting the place down
totally .... the show must go on! :).
